Ali Davoudi has received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. from Sharif University of Technology, Iran, The University of British Columbia, Canada, and The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, in 2003, 2005, and 2010, respectively. He was with SolarBridge Technologies, Texas Instruments Inc., and Royal Philips. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Texas, Arlington, TX, USA. He directs the Complex Power Electronics Laboratory. He routinely teaches an undergraduate-level course on Introduction to Power Electronics, and two graduate-level courses on Power Electronics Engineering and Electric Motor Drives. Three of his former research group members are tenure-track faculty members in the U.S.
Dr. Davoudi is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, and the IEEE Power Engineering Letters. He had served on more than a dozen occasions as an editor, associate editor, or guest editor/editor-in-chief of an IEEE special issue, for different IEEE Transactions/Journals. He was the technical program co-chair for 2015 IEEE Workshop on Control and Modeling for Power Electronics, and the organizer and moderator of the 2018 ONR Controls Workshop. He has started the Taylor and Francis book series in microgrids and active power distribution network engineering in 2015.
His research efforts are in high-fidelity modeling, distributed control, formal verification, and scalable optimization in cyber-physical power electronics, energy conversion, and distribution networks. He has co-authored 107 journal articles, two magazine articles, 81 conference/workshop papers, seven journal editorial notes, one book, and two book chapters. He has published invited articles in 2016 IEEE GlobalSIP and 2015 IEEE International Conference on DC Microgrids. He received 2014 Ralph H. Lee Prize Paper Award from the IEEE Industry Applications Society, the cover article of IEEE Control Systems in December 2014, Best Paper Award from 2015 IEEE International Symposium on Resilient Control Systems, 2014-2015 Best Paper Award from the IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2016 College of Engineering Early Career Award, 2016 Prize Paper Award from the IEEE Power and Energy Society, 2017 IEEE Power Electronics Society Richard M. Bass Outstanding Young Power Electronics Engineer Award, 2017-2018 Best Paper Award from the IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2019 UT Systems STARs, and 2019-2020 Faculty Fellow of Janet and Mike Greene Endowed Professorship
