Dr. Chaitanya "Chai" Sambhara is an assistant professor of Information Systems and Operations Management at the College of Business, University of Texas at Arlington. His research investigates how the implementation and use of enterprise systems, along with complementary resources and capabilities, can a) improve business processes, b) strengthen internal and external controls, c) mitigate process and firm level risks, and d) lead to higher profitability and firm performance. Drawing on complementary literatures in information systems, accounting, process engineering, and operations, his research identifies and addresses: i) critical problems pertaining to the business value of expensive and complex information systems, and ii) important scientific problems pertaining to the insufficient understanding of the nature of the relationship between IT-enabled processes, risks, controls, and human capital and competence. He uses a mix of rigorous econometric and qualitative techniques and rich multi-source panel data.
