Biography

Biography

Dr. Hervás obtained his Ph.D. in 2010. He has taught graduate and undergraduate Spanish language and literature and Linguistics classes for the last 10 years at higher education institutions in North East Texas, such as Texas A&M University-Commerce, UT-Dallas, Collin College and Mountain View College. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at UT-Arlington, teaching a wide range of courses from undergrad to graduate level. He has always shown great teaching and community event involvement. In general, his students and evaluators have expressed appreciation for his devotion and dedication. He has shared his professional expertise at numerous national and international professional conferences.

      GTA Mentoring and Training Program for MODL Grad Students in the Teaching Practicum, part of MA studies. My duties as mentor include the following:
      - hosting students in each class session to have them observe my class as a model;
      - meeting with students to discuss and revise their notes on observing my class;
      - supervise students teach one class period per chapter, and a complete chapter;
      - review their lesson planning prior to teach their practice classes;
      - write and discuss my observation reports on students’ teaching practice sessions;
      - have students to mock grade exams and compositions and discuss their grading practice;
      - advise on best practices for dynamics and logistics on the day to day work of a college instructor.
