Biography

Biography

Dr. Schuman joined the UT Arlington School of Social Work as a non-tenure assistant professor in practice in September 2014. He and his family moved to the Dallas metroplex just a few months before joining the faculty. He teaches Treatment of Addictive Behaviors, Applied Social Work Practice I, and Micro-Macro Practice Field Seminar at the master’s level. He also teaches Social Work Practice I and II at the bachelor’s level.

Dr. Schuman has served on master’s theses committees. He currently serves as a member of the School of Social Work Search committee, the Mental Health and Substance Abuse content area committee and the BSW Foundation content area committee. He holds a Texas license as a chemical dependency counselor and is involved in substance use issues and networking with treatment facilities in the metroplex. He also holds advanced clinical social work licensure in Texas and Kentucky and is approved to supervise candidates for clinical licensure.
