Erica Hinojosa is currently the Simulation Technology Manager at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI) Smart Hospital Facilities ™. Prior to becoming the Simulation Technology Manager, she worked as a Simulation Technician at UTA CONHI Smart Hospital Facilities ™ for two and a half years. She graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Master of Science in Healthcare Simulation. Her background allows her to understand the medical and educational aspects of the simulation healthcare industry. In December of 2018, she became a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).
Erica has worked on projects in the past that have been presented at INACSL, SimGHOSTS, IMSH, Medical City Dallas, and Arlington Independent School District Career and Technical Center. The titles of a few projects are as followed Competency-Focused Approach to Clinical Experience, Moulage on a Dime, Opportunities for Collaboration Between Academia and Practice, and Lessons on How to Use and Incorporate an Anatomage Table into High School Programs.
Erica is currently a member of Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialist (SimGHOST), Simulation Professionals of Texas (SPOT), and Simulation User Network (SUN). Erica has active roles on SimGHOST by being a Mentor and Ambassador as well as on SPOT as the Oversight Planning and Communication liaison.
