Research Interests
My research involves combining the use of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) along with domain adaptation techniques to extract hand pose from single/sequence of RGB/Depth image frames. The proposed study aims to develop self-supervised learning methods that learn to estimate hand pose from large amounts of unlabeled data and synthetic data. These advances will remove the bottleneck of obtaining time-consuming frame-by-frame manual annotations.

Biography

Biography

My name is Farnaz Farahanipad and I am a Ph.D. student at University of Texas at Arlington in the Computer Science department. I received my second M.Sc. in Computer science department at UTA and my first M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Iran. Currently, I am working under Dr.Athitsos and Dr.Kamangar supervision at UTA. My research involves 2D/3D hand pose estimation under self/semi supervision learning. The goal is to use the estimated hand pose information in sign language recognition, human computer interfaces, gaming, and virtual or augmented reality and rehabilitation.
