After receiving an MSW and MS in Marriage and Family Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Graaf practiced in community-based mental health settings serving families and children with complex behavioral health care needs in the Kansas City metro for several years. Building on this professional experience and practice knowledge of children's mental health funding mechanisms and service systems, she completed a doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on the role of Medicaid in public mental health service access.
