Service to the University

    • Aug 2017 to  Present Faculty Affiliate
      Center for African American Studies

Consider cross-listing classes you teach that address topics relevant to the African American experience. Consider presenting aspects of your teaching, research, or service-related contributions during a CAAS event. Attend at least three CAAS events (e.g., Opening Lecture, Power Hours, Evening of Arts and Letters, Annual Conference, CAAS Honors). A strong presence of productive faculty shows the relevance of our Center to both students and administrators. And finally, publicize our events to students enrolled in courses relevant to CAAS’ mission. It would be great if you could provide them with bonus points for attending one or two of our events.

      Advances in Social Work
Advances in Social Work is a refereed journal published by Indiana University School of Social Work. The journal seeks to publish empirical, conceptual, and theoretical articles in all areas of social work research, education, and practice. Interdisciplinary contributions are encouraged. Authors are provided timely and constructive reviews of their manuscripts. Advances in Social Work is a completely online journal including article submission, review, and publication.

Peer review in all its forms plays an important role in ensuring the integrity of the scholarly record. The process depends to a large extent on trust, and requires that everyone involved behaves responsibly and ethically. Peer reviewers play a central and critical part in the peer-review process, but too often come to the role without any guidance and may be unaware of their ethical obligations. The COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers set out the basic principles and standards to which all peer reviewers should adhere during the peer-review process. It is hoped they will provide helpful guidance to researchers, be a reference for journals and editors in guiding their reviewers, and act as an educational resource for institutions in training their students and researchers.
