Biography

Biography

Narges Shayesteh Moghaddam is an Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. Before joining UTA in 2018, she received her B.S. in mechanical engineering from Isfahan University of Technology and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo. Dr. Shayesteh Moghaddam’s research interests lie in the development, production, and characterization of novel materials for applications in aerospace, space, automotive, and biomedical devices. Her work encompasses a wide range of research activities including, but not limited to, the following: functional materials science, design for additive manufacturing, materials processing, materials property characterization, exploring the link between microstructure and mechanical properties, structural/failure analysis/monitoring, laser melting process optimization, topology optimization, and post-processing treatments.

      3D Printed Aircraft Competition
      Dr. Shayesteh and her colleauges organized a 3D printed aircraft competition for students from UTA and other Universities. Students were exposed to the entire cycle of conceptualization, design, manufacturing and testing of 3D printed components and systems. AM simulation and manufacturing companies helped in this competition through problem definition as well as in-kind support in the form of CAE software and technical support/training for participating students.
