Biography

Jean Ashwill, RN, MSN is Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Student Services  in the College of Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington.  In her current role she is responsible for advisement, recruitment, admission, retention and scholarships.  Prior to her position in Undergraduate Student Services, she was Director of Continuing Nursing Education at the College of Nursing.

Ms. Ashwill was the Principle Investigator on a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board grant that focused on increasing graduation rates of ethnically diverse students that led to the establishment of the College of Nursing’s Student Success Program. She also was the Project Coordinator on a HRSA grant that focused on the recruitment, retention and graduation of students from disadvantaged areas, including minorities.

Ms. Ashwill’s clinical specialty is pediatrics.  She has taught pediatrics and has co-authored pediatric and combined pediatric/maternity texts.  The fourth edition of both texts have recently published.

Ms. Ashwill serves on several University and College of Nursing committees. She is active in the community and the profession.
