Biography

My primary research interest is bilingual langauge processing. I am currently working on the following reasearch questions:

1. Are different memory systems involved in the mental representatin of L1 and L2 words?

2. How does a langauge's writing system affect how visually-presented words as accessed in the mental lexicon?

      Achievements: I did a porster presentation on my reserach project supervised by Dr. Naoko Witzel, which is titled as "How New L2 Words Are Stored at Initial Stages of L2 Acquisition".

      • LING 2301-002 INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF HUMAN LANGUAGES

        LING 2301 provides an overview of an inarguably fundamental human capacity: language. Students will consider a variety of language-related topics in the context of the physical sciences, cognitive sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Course readings provide students with exposure to many of the basic concepts and terms used in the study of language and linguistics. Lectures and in-class activities complement the readings by further elucidating key concepts and exemplifying these notions. This course satisfies the University of Texas at Arlington core curriculum requirement in Social and Behavioral Sciences.

      • LING 2301-004 INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF HUMAN LANGUAGES

        An introduction to the scientific study of human language, using English as an example. Topics in the course include how sounds are produced, how words and sentences are structured, how and why language changes, how language is acquired by children and adults, how the brain processes language, and how language and society intersect.

    • Instructing Chinese as a Second Language
      • Sept 2018 Volunteer in teaching Chinese as a second language

        I instructed students who majored in Chinese at the University of Texas at Arlington on their second language (Chinese) at a weekly base through the Fall 2018 semester. The instruction was forcused on the basic Chinese words, sentence structures, and grammar in both reading and speaking. The instruction was initialized to fulfil the 10 hours volunteer teaching in a second language for getting my TESOL certificate.
