Dr. Hall is a Certified Public Accountant (Texas) and holds the position of Public Accounting Professor in the Department of Accounting. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in financial accounting and auditing. He also teaches a master’s level course in statistical sampling and has served as a statistical consultant to commercial companies and CPA firms.
Dr. Hall is a 1974 (BBA) and 1975 (MPA) graduate of the accounting program at the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1975 he received awards from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Elijah Watt Wells) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (John Burnis Allred) for his performance on the Certified Public Accountant Examination. After completing his master’s degree he entered public accounting and served on the audit staff of Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. in Fort Worth (now KPMG). During his three years at Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. he rose to the position of supervising senior and was responsible for planning and directing the audits of a variety of companies including electric and water utilities, radio and television stations, manufacturing companies, insurance companies, and retailers. In 1980 he completed a Ph.D. degree at Oklahoma State University and joined the U. T. Arlington faculty in 1981.
Dr. Hall’s scholarship has focused on improving the measurement process in accounting and understanding how participation in decision making processes affects the attitudes and performance of subordinates. He has published in a variety of journals including: the Journal of Accountancy; the Journal of Accounting, Auditing, & Finance; the Accounting Review; the Journal of Accounting Research; Accounting and Business Research; Accounting Horizons; Advances In Accounting; the Journal of Applied Psychology; Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory; Behavioral Research In Accounting; the Journal of Financial Research; and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. He has received several awards for distinguished publication and service at U. T. Arlington.
