Biography

Wen Chan received his Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Purdue University. He is currently Professor of Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to joining in academy, Dr. Chan has more than 10 years industrial experience. His primary research interests are in areas of composite and metallic structures with focus in the aerospace applications. He has published more than 200 papers in journals and conference proceedings. He received two best paper awards in the SAMPE (Society for Advanced Materials and Processing Engineering) Annual Conference and AHS (American Helicopter Society) National Forum. He also received Outstanding Research recognition and Excellent Teaching award by College of Engineering at UT-Arlington. He is a Fellow of both ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and ASC (American Society for Composites) and an Associate Fellow of AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics).  He organized the 27th ASC conference and served as many session chairs, technical committee members in several technical societies.
